My name is Moritz Baumgärtel and I am an Assistant Professor in Law and Sociology at University College Roosevelt. I am also a Fellow of the Netherlands Institute of Human Rights at Utrecht University and a prospective Petar Beron Research Fellow (2024-2025) at South-West University in Blagoevgrad, Bulgaria.

The purpose of this website is to share my work, supplemented with additional explanations and context. Rather than an exercise in personal branding, it’s an attempt to provide an honest and detailed account of who I am – partly beyond academic conventions. I’m solely responsible for all the content.

I’ve also added a section on chess for those as crazy about (and maybe because of) the royal game as I am.
